The Happiness Tag!

I got tagged by my friend Kaylin to do this tag! Check out her blog!  She is fantastic! ❤

Rules:

All you have to do is list:

5 Things that make you happy

5 Songs that make you happy

5 Bloggers to complete this tag

5 Things that make me happy:

  1. First and most of all, my little boy <3. His name is Parker Miles. I gave him up for adoption when he was born, he was adopted by family friends who can not have children of their own. I am still very much involved in his life and he is still aware tha I am his mother. I am very blessed to have his adopted parents in my life <3.

2. Another thing that makes me happy is my fiance Josiah! I have known him since I was 16, and we have been together for a little over a year now. He is truly my best friend, and I appreciate everything he does for me. ❤

us This is my favorite picture. It is so candid and so sweet.

3. I am done being all cheesy and sweet. The fact that Norman Reedus is a human being that graces this earth makes me happy. I mean sweet Jesus that man is beautiful.

Check out my instagram, @mrs_daryldixon_

4. Makeup makes me happy. Obviously. It is so beautiful and there are some many different products and shades. When I put it on myself and other people I feel like I am an artist. It just makes me happy.

5. Writing makes me happy. I have been writing for a very long time. I have been published in newspapers and similar platforms, have won awards, and have had articles up on some websites under a pseudonym I use to use Being able to write this blog a write everyday gives me a sense of purpose that I missed more than I could have ever imagined that I would.

5 Songs that make me happy

  1. More than a Woman by the Bee Gees. It makes me want to dance, I heard it once on my way to a football game when I was a cheerleader and ever since then it just makes me super excited.
  2. God Made Girls by a girl whose name I can’t remember. The first time I heard it was on the way back from my doctors appointment when I found out the sex of Parker. My doctor thought he was a girl. I cried the 1st time I heard it, now it makes me giggle.
  3. Lordes cover of Everybody Wants to Rule the world. I am not a fan of the Hunger Game movies or books, but I really REALLY like this song.
  4. Amanda by Boston. This is the song I am named after. I have had at least 5 guys play it for me thinking they were being cute and original. It makes me laugh, sometimes I sing it to myself when I am sad.
  5. The Fame on Fire cover of Hello. I do not really like Adelel’s version. And I know this song is supposed to be sad. BUT, I was diagnosed with chronic depression when I was around 15. Sometimes, when I get in one of my very bad episodes I will almost feel numb. ( If anyone is interested in learning more about all of that please let me know!) I will listen to this song when this happens, and actually feel something, sometimes just knowing I am not a completely void emotionless person is enough to save me from myself.

Small Beauty Haul <3

glitter

I am finally bringing ya’ll the small haul I promised a few days ago! It is just a few highend and drugstore items! Let’s jump in to this!

First I went to K-Mart, they usually have this bin area with a lot of make-up on clearence. Usually the Milani eye primer is in there, and that stuff is great. This time it was not, but I did get some other things!

I picked up a few things from Wet n’ Wild. I have really been enjoying my contour duo in “Caramel Toffee”So, I decided to pick up the duo in shade “Dulce De Leche”. Next I picked up one of the MegaSlicks in the shade “Wined and Dined”. I though it was a really pretty color and it is very inexpensive, so  I won’t be out much money if it sucks. The last Wet n Wild item that I picked up is their large stipple brush. I have been trying to get my hands on this brush, but it has been sold out every time I went to get it. Seriously, EVERY time.

Moving on!

I hear people rave about the Milani lip liners in “Natural” and “Spice” all the tome, so I decided to pick them up and try them for myself. So far I really do love them both!

Now for the high end items!

429161

This Tarte skin care set I purcased on Sephora.com for only $10! Get it here! I would open this and show the items to you, but it is actually a mother’s day present for someone, so I do not want to tamper with it!

42916

I am really excited about this. I love love love the Sephora favorites kits. I am not going to go into too much detail, because I have a separate review/look post for this girl!

What other items should I pick up? Have you tried any of these? Let me know!

Today I thought I’d be a Mermaid. Dramatic Spring/Summer Look!

42716

Today I decided to do something a little different than I am used to. I do not do many dramatic looks and I hate false lashes. But, I was looking through my collection after work today and saw a really pretty shadow that I had never used. I decided to take a risk and get a little crazy. It isn’t the best, so bare with me!

  • After moisturizing my face I used NYX shadow crayon in “milk” to prime my lids and act as a base.
  • I then reached for my Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Palette

427164

  • I used the light gray shade above the black “Lazarus”, as my transition shade in my crease. The black shade “Shax” was used to define my crease and outter V. The white shade “Saleos” I used on my brow bone and inner corner. I then used the deeper gray shade “Liberatus” to soften my crease just a bit. I used the light orange-ish shade “Ludwin” to help blend the sharp lines closer to the inner part of my eye.

Now for the fun part!

  • I grabbed my L’oreal Infallible shadow in the shade “Endless Sea” and put it on the inner two thirds of my lid.
  • 427165

Isn’t it BEAUTIFUL!?

  • For my face I used the same products that I always do, I am really trying to just use them up so I can FINALLY use something new!
  • I did how ever get to use a new liquid liner, The Maybelline Master Precise eye pen in “black”. I also used the skinny liner in “black” to line my water line.
  • I then went back in with the L’oreal shadow to add some color under my lash line.
  • For my lips I used the Maybelline Color Sensational Matte lipstick in the shade “Daringly Nude”

427166

I love how creamy this lipstick is!

Now for the finished look!

I also put a little braid in my hair, for an extra mermaidy look!

I really hope you enjoyed my attempt! Would you like more colorful or dramatic looks? Let me know!

MY FIRST BIRCHBOX! April 2016

birchbox416

I received my first ever birch box, and quite honestly my feelings are pretty mixed about it right now.

The keepsake box itself is very cute and I will for sure be using it. But, the contents of the box…not too exciting.

P.S. I will be actually reviewing these products next month when I  post what I received in my next box, sense it is mostly skin care items!

  • When I opened the box I saw that I got a 20% off code for Rifle Paper Co. I actually may end up using this. I write a lot and journal so it is always nice to have cute note books!

(Malin + Goetz) Grapefruit facial cleanser – Full size $32 First let me start off by saying I really hate how this product smells. I am probably one of the few people who hates grapefruit. I also try to avoid scented products on my face, my skin is very sensitive and it tends to get rashes from fragrance in face washes and such. I will keep you up to date on this. It does claim to be good for sensitive skin, I guess we will find out. Purchase it here.

Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask- I really like how this product smells, first of all. I also really enjoy the fact that it is all natural, it is always nice to use natural products! I was pretty pleased that I got this product, I have been wanting to try a new deep conditioner, now I can! In a few weeks I will let you all know how well it works! You can get it here for $34.00.

Marcelle 3-in-1 Micellar Solution- ” This is a toner and makeup remover in one. It is gentle enough for sensitive skin and full of complexion calming ingredients.” I love my Garnier Micellar water, but it is hard to travel with such a large bottle. This bottle is a smaller size, so it is nice to have that. This is also claiming to be good for sensitive skin, I guess we will see! Get the full-size here for $21.00.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in “Strumpet”- I do really love this brand itself, actually this product itself. It is cruelty free and matte which is great. The sample size is small, which isn’t that big of a deal because you just need a teeny tiny bit with each use. But, this color really is not for me, unfortunately.

birchbox4161

Get the full-size here ( or another color) for $16.00.

WEI Golden Root Purifying Mud Mask- “A non-drying deep cleansing mask packed with purifying China clay.” You are only supposed to use a thin layer of this product, but it has a lid that can not be resealed, so not too sure how that will work out. I will test this little guy out and get back to you. Get the set here for $42.00.

Over all, I am not happy with this box right off the bat, but I am not upset either. I guess my decision will be made after I test the products out!

What was in your BirchBox? Have you tried these products? What do you think?

Sunday FOTD Out and About

I had a nice day out and about today. We picked up some stuff we needed for the house, groceries, and some other things. P.S. I have a little makeup haul that will be posted soon!

While I was getting ready this morning I was going to use My Urban Decay Naked Palette to do my eyes. It is my go to when I am not trying to be super creative. When I was looking through my drawers for it, I am really unorganized I am working on it, I found the Smashbox Full Exposure Travel Palette under some other stuff! I got this as a little stocking stuffer over Christmas, but I never really played with it. I took the plunge and did so today.

0424162.jpg

To prime my eyes I used the Rimmel Hide the Blemish concealer in Ivory. I do not like this as a concealer, but it is actually a pretty great eye primer, it covers the dark veins and such. I used the light pink shade, which is labeled as “M3” on the back of the palette, as my transition/blending shade. I used the gray shade, labeled as “M6”, in my crease. The dark brown shade, “M1”, I used in my outer V. For my lid I used the sparkly pink shade, “S3”. This wasn’t light enough for me so I went in with the shade next to it, “S4” and placed it over top. I used the cream shade, “M4”, as my brow bone highlight and in my inner corner.

I then used my usual liquid liner, the Starlooks pro luxe pen in “jet”, to line my upper lash line and do a small flick. I then realized that the liner is FINALLY done, the pigmentation just wasn’t there. So I went over it with the Urban Decay Shadow in “Blackout”. This shade is available in the Naked 2 palette, but I purchased it in a single also, I never use a black shadow besides this one. It blows MAC “Carbon” out of the water.

On my lips is the Whipped liquid lipstick from Buxom in the shade “Centerfold” that I got in my April Ipsy bag!

I did my usual foundation routine, I try to use up products before opening new ones which for what I do isn’t a good idea. I have a ton of foundation just waiting to be opened. I set my face with the Coty Air Spun powder, besides my under eyes, I used the highlight shade in the Wet n’ Wild Contour Palette in the shade “Caramel Toffee”. I love using this powder to set my under eye area! I also used the contour shade in this palette to lightly contour.

I used the City Color Be Matte blush in “Papaya”. Used the Physicians Formula Season to Season bronzer in “light to medium” to bronze with.  I high lighted my face with the L’oreal True Match Lumi high lighter in “Rose”.

When I was finished I spritzed my face with MAC Fix +.

I hope you enjoyed this look! What makeup do you prefer to use? How was your Sunday? Let’s talk!

Product Spotlight:Boots Botanics Mineral Eye Colous “010 Velvet Green”

I was trying to think of different posts to do, and I thought it would be a nice idea to do looks with and review very specific products. It will force me to really use everything I have, but it is also a nice way to introduce people to new things and maybe even help them find a new holy grail product! Friday Faves and Flops!

I am aware that it is no longer Friday, I thought this post posted yesterday, when actually it just got saved in my drafts.

Let’s jump into the faves:

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Sensitive Version

42216

I have crazy sensitive eyes. ANYTHING I used to clean my eye makeup off before I got this product burnt them so badly. I would go quite a bit of time after cleaning them off not being able to see correctly. I picked up this item at my local walmart and I am so glad that I did! They are apparently coming out with some for different skin types as well, which I am also pretty pumped about!

Cover Girl Oh! Sugar Lip Balm in “Soda” and “GumDrop”

I love tinted lip balms. They are easy to use, no hassle to reapply, and moisturize my super dry lips. I love these two deep colors in the line. The give a beautiful bitten lip type of flush to your lips. They are perfect for this time of year  and for the next few months. These guys also smell like the Bottle Caps candy, I love that stuff!

Broadway Nails Nail Polish Remover Pads

422163

I got this product at my local Dollar General. The Fiance and I were on our way to visit family and I had to get my chipped up polish up my nails. I didn’t have much hope for these, but decided they would be the best to use in the car. I was so wrong about this product. 1 pad got all the polish off of 5 fingers, and I still had quite a bit of polish left! They also smell so much better than any other nail polish remover I have used. They are  only a $1.00!!

Now for my flop:

L.A. Colors Grafix Eyeliner

422164

Seriously, come on. This is a liquid liner. Why does it apply like this!? Yes, it is worse on the eyes. I understand that this product is under $3, but so is Wet n’ Wilds, actually they are cheaper and work better!

What were your faves and flops for this week? Have you tired these products? Let’s talk!
