*Birch box Sample Review* Coola Classic Sun Screen “White Tea”

I got a small sample of this product in my May Birch box. I am going to be straight forward with all of you and start off by saying this will be a very short review and not in the same layout as my others.

It is cruelty free

It is organic

Everything else!

I do not like the smell, the product is too greasy, and it balled up on my face so badly! It is meant to be a face moisturizer, why did it ball up so badly?! I let it dry before I applied my primer, but it still was terrible.

I would not purchase this, it is no where near worth its $32 price tag.

Have you tried this??!!

*Birch Box Sample Review* WEI Golden Root Purifying Mask

As you may have read, I received this product in my MY FIRST BIRCHBOX! April 2016. This is a small sample of the WEI Golden Root Purifying Mud Mask. You can purchase it for $42. It comes with 8 pods and a brush to apply the mask.

I want to point out that my little sample said that it was a one time use pod, resulting in no way to close the sample. But, when I applied a thin layer like instructed there was quite a bit of product left, I really hope it doesn’t just go to waste. I also am not sure if the pods in the full-sized set are like this as well.

BirchBox Break Down:

“Most mud masks feel like paper-mâché creations once they dry on our faces. Not so with this super-soft mask from WEI™. It purges all kinds of debris from your skin—from excess oil to environmental pollutants—leaving your pores nearly invisible. We love how the single-use pods come equipped with a handy brush to help you apply the mask evenly. The formula works for all skin types, even the most sensitive.”

on my birchbox card it says to “apply a thin layer, wait 10 mins, the rinse off with warm water.”

My Thoughts:

I love the smell of this mask. It smells a bit floral like and just the smell made me feel like my skin was cleaner already! I really enjoyed how easily the product applied and came off, usually masks are a huge fuss and I hate it. My skin has never felt so soft or smooth before, it kind of blew my mind. I feel like I will no longer like the masks I already own because of this product. My only complaint really is the packaging.

Would I Buy?

No, probably not. Just because of the packaging. Seems like a lot of money to potentially waste quite a bit of product.

Have you tried this mask? What is your favorite face mask??

*Skincare Review*(Malin + Goetz) Vitamin E Face Moisturizer

I know, I know. I said I was going to review the products from my BirchBox from April with the un-boxing of my may one. Change of plans. I decided to review them once I have finished the said products, so the impressions will be fresh on my mind, not just copied from notes I have written down.

The Price:

You can get this moisturizer on birchbox.com for $46.

The Claims: (birchbox break down)

“Give your skin an ample dose of daily vitamins with this oil-free moisturizer. Its lightweight, antioxidant-rich formula has intensely hydrating properties and provides pH balance for all skin types, especially those with sensitive skin.”

How to use:

“Apply a small amount to cleansed skin, avoiding eyes and particularly oily areas. For dry spots, simply increase the amount. This moisturizer also works well in the morning as a makeup primer.”

My Thoughts:

I received a sample size of this product, I included a full size picture taken from the internet for this post. I was pretty impressed with how many uses I got out of the small foil packet.

I suffer from very dry skin, and I have to say on the days I used this product I noticed a huge difference. It wasn’t greasy in the slightest, which tends to be an issue with moisturizers.

I really only have 2 complaints about this product. The smell, I cannot stand it! It is such a strange scent, I can’t even begin to describe it. My other complaint is the cost, $46?! It is truly a fantastic product, but I can not justify spending that much money on  a product that doesn’t have multiple benefits. If it had something in it that helped reduce acne or helped to even out your skin tone, the price would not be a problem, I could even forgive the scent.

Would I purchase?:

That is up in the air for me. But, it does lead me to a question for all of you. What is your favorite face moisturizer!?

I received my first ever birch box, and quite honestly my feelings are pretty mixed about it right now.

The keepsake box itself is very cute and I will for sure be using it. But, the contents of the box…not too exciting.

P.S. I will be actually reviewing these products next month when I  post what I received in my next box, sense it is mostly skin care items!

  • When I opened the box I saw that I got a 20% off code for Rifle Paper Co. I actually may end up using this. I write a lot and journal so it is always nice to have cute note books!

(Malin + Goetz) Grapefruit facial cleanser – Full size $32 First let me start off by saying I really hate how this product smells. I am probably one of the few people who hates grapefruit. I also try to avoid scented products on my face, my skin is very sensitive and it tends to get rashes from fragrance in face washes and such. I will keep you up to date on this. It does claim to be good for sensitive skin, I guess we will find out. Purchase it here.

Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask- I really like how this product smells, first of all. I also really enjoy the fact that it is all natural, it is always nice to use natural products! I was pretty pleased that I got this product, I have been wanting to try a new deep conditioner, now I can! In a few weeks I will let you all know how well it works! You can get it here for $34.00.

Marcelle 3-in-1 Micellar Solution- ” This is a toner and makeup remover in one. It is gentle enough for sensitive skin and full of complexion calming ingredients.” I love my Garnier Micellar water, but it is hard to travel with such a large bottle. This bottle is a smaller size, so it is nice to have that. This is also claiming to be good for sensitive skin, I guess we will see! Get the full-size here for $21.00.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in “Strumpet”- I do really love this brand itself, actually this product itself. It is cruelty free and matte which is great. The sample size is small, which isn’t that big of a deal because you just need a teeny tiny bit with each use. But, this color really is not for me, unfortunately.

Get the full-size here ( or another color) for $16.00.

WEI Golden Root Purifying Mud Mask- “A non-drying deep cleansing mask packed with purifying China clay.” You are only supposed to use a thin layer of this product, but it has a lid that can not be resealed, so not too sure how that will work out. I will test this little guy out and get back to you. Get the set here for $42.00.

Over all, I am not happy with this box right off the bat, but I am not upset either. I guess my decision will be made after I test the products out!

What was in your BirchBox? Have you tried these products? What do you think?
