The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony. *Win or Waste?*

meetmatte

Hello Interweb!

Ipsy recently had an offer on the Meet Matt(e) Trimony palette, for only $22! It is usually $42 on the Balms website. They do tend to have a lot of sales and discount codes, so it is easy to find it at least a little it discounted.

I have decided to do this Win or Waste a bit differently. I am going to list all of my thoughts on this palette through bullet points. It is an easier way for me to organize my thoughts, sense they don’t always fit into a specific category like I try to make them to.

  • The packaging is adorable. It has a retro looking picture of a man on the front, a small one on the back, and it light and navy blue. I like blue. On the back of the palette is also a little section that looks like a dating profile. Has height, job, etc. It is the kind of thing that I am going to keep displayed.

  • The palette has 9 large pans of matte shadows. The net weight is 0.756 OZ. The shades are all really pretty, I especially love the matte plum and burgundy, I don’t have any others like it!
  • Are the names of the shades not hilarious!? They all have people names!! I really enjoy that, makes me giggle.
  • The shades are all matte, no shimmer or satin at all.

  • Here are all of the shades swatched in order. They are all very pigmented, but the darker shades do have quite  bit of fall out. The feel buttery to the had and go on the lid nicely. They blend out pretty easily, but if you blend too much the lighter shades just disappear.
  • SO, is it a Win, or is it a Waste? For the $22 I payed, yes it is a win! Buttttt, I wouldn’t buy it full price. The burgundy and plum are different than anything else I own, but the other shades are not.
  • If you want a good matte palette I highly suggest the Kat Von D shade and light eye large palette and the quads. In fact, if I end up getting the quads in “Rust” and “Plum”, I will probably pass this palette on to someone else.  Kind of disappointed, considering one of my favorite Youtuber’s EmilyNoel83 raves about The Balm products quite often. Oh well, when some lose some!!

What are your favorite matte shadows? Have and requests? any Any post ideas? Please, let me know!

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Quad “Sage”

sage

This was supposed to be a win or waste post. But there was no way I could not start out saying that I am so in love with this quad!!

Just look at it! There are a few different quads, all of which look amazing, but this is the one that caught my eye the most. See them all here.

This is a brand I really love and stand by. I love the fact that such a beautiful, talented person can still be so genuine and down to earth. The Kat Von D products are cruelty free and she is working on phasing out the non-vegan ingredients. The quad I purchased just happens to be vegan.

Aesthetics:

This packaging is right up my alley. It is sturdy, black, and the design is really unique. Even the box it comes in is beautiful. If you look in side there are little stars that look like they are supposed to mimic Kat’s face tattoo, I really like the personal touch. The shade layout itself is to die for. Just look at it! I give this a 10/10.

Product :

Nothing short of amazing. They are creamy, pigmented and truly matte. They are a bit powdery, but they are a soft powder product, so I expected it. These shadows swatch beautifully.

Not only do they work perfect together, but they work so well with other shadows as well. I can’t seem to quit using it. I have done looks with this palette and colour pop shadows and love it! But, for this post I only used this quad, just so you could really see how great it is.

The Look:

For review purposes I used the shadows as suggested. The shade labeled base was my base, the sage is the definer, and so on.

I love it. I will definitely get my moneys worth with this quad

  • I am wearing Too Faced Better than Sex, Kat Von D Trooper, and Urban Decay Perversion Liner

Perks and samples w/order:

I like sharing my samples, perks, etc. Sephora usually has some nice ones, and when I purchased this I was pretty happy with my extras!

  • The perfume Alien, I have no idea who this is by and quite honestly, I am not that interested in it. I just like the name.
  • I also picked the Fresh Rose Hydrating Ritual. I have tried some of these other times and like them, might as well try them while they are free.
  • I also got the Josie Maran Moisturizing face Milk.
  • I got 2 100 point perks this time
  • The Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in “Glace”

Look how pretty it is! Excited to try it out!

  • I then picked the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Primer in Mood Light. Excited to try a primer from a brand I have never tried a primer from.

What is your favorite Kat Von D product? What do I NEED to get? What did you think of this post?

*Win or Waste* ELF Daily Facial Cleanser

elfface

I reviewed the moisturizer, I might as well go ahead and review its companion face wash!

I know I have been doing A LOT of reviews recently, but I promise there is more of that and other things to come!

This cleanser is $7 on the ELF website. I purchased mine at target while I was in a pinch, and I believe I payed $8 for it. I wanted a cruelty free face wash, and decided to go with the ELF one, do to an online order I had just ordered at the time.

I really enjoy that light blue packaging, The robins egg (almost, anyway) blue shade is one of my favorite colors! Packaging really draws me in if you can’t tell by now.

Claims:

“This gentle cleanser removes everyday impurities, dirt, and makeup for skin that feels clean and renewed. It’s infused with Purified Water to help hydrate the skin with a refreshing splash of moisture.”

My Thoughts:

I am really disappointed with this product. It does literally nothing it claims. After using it my skin still feels dirty and it really doesn’t take mush of the impurities off. Upon first using it, it does seem really moisturizing. But, after a little while my skin would feel dry again. Kind of like what petroleum does, makes your skin feel very hydrated for a bit than after a little bit you feel the need to go back and apply more.

Verdict:

0/10 would buy again. This product does nothing! Yes, the price point is great as is the availability, but I would rather spend the extra money to get a product that works.

What face wash do you recommend??
