Tetris x Ipsy Game On Palette | is it better than Block Party?

If you follow my blog, you would know I have started a subscription box product win or whomp series. This is part of that series.

I really wanted to see if the Game On palette was any better than the Block Party palette. If you read that post you would know that little palette would left me with much to be desired.

Let’s get to applying and swatching and see if Game On is an improvement, the same, or some how even worse!

The Swatches

  • Game changer: a matte light orange. Appears better on the eye than swatched.
  • Game Day: A metallic light pink.
  • Game Night: A metallic green based gold

  • Stack it up: A matte cream shade
  • Block Party: A metallic rose gold
  • Game Over: A matte Navy

Thoughts?

The palette is slightly better than its counter part. I enjoy the metallic shades. The mattes really aren’t anything special. I may end up depoting the metallics. The packaging itself is cute with a nice sized mirror, so they did good again on that aspect. It could be a little smaller though. The palettes are pretty large for just 6 shadows.

For me this is still a whomp. It is only a 6 pan palette. I want to enjoy all the shades, not just half.

Have you tried this palette? What would you like me to review next?

The first Ipsy Ultimate Box | October 2019

Ipsy has made some big changes. With those changes came another subscription level I just couldn’t pass up. For $50 a month, you receive 12 beauty products. 8 full sized and 4 sample/ deluxe sample sizes.

Because I am spending $50 on one box, I will no longer be getting the regular Ipsy or Ipsy plus. But, let’s get into the box and see if the change is worth it!

The included bag.

I am not sure if this will occur every month, or we got a bag just because Ipsy came out with a Betty Boop collaboration. Either way, this double sided bag is super cute and nicely sized! It is different than the bag that regular Ipsy subbies will get.

Nanette Lenore Beautiful Times Perfume

This fragrance has notes of mandarin, violet, and caramelized sugar. I really enjoy the mixture of the floral and warm scents. The fragrance does linger quite a while. I think I have found my fall fragrance!

Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm

This is a product I have actually talked about before. This so happens to be my favorite makeup melting balm. If I am correct, we were actually sent the limited editing jumbo size, which is awesome! I am so happy to have this balm back in my life. I just couldn’t bring myself to purchase it, when there are less expensive options that work almost as well.

The Saem Natural Avocado and Shea Butter Sheet Mask Set

I love sheet masks. I do them a few times a week. Can’t go wrong with some extra hydration! I may even use the avocado one today to prep for some poorly done FX makeup I am doing for a Halloween Costume tonight.

Papa Recipe Egg Plant Clearing Mud Cream Mask

This is a creamy mask with a slightly grainy texture. The egg plant extract is to soothe and exfoliate. Ipsy says it is setting your skin up for a bright and clear future. Sounds good to me. I’ll give it a try.

C’Est Moi Beauty Reflect lip gloss in Opulence

This gloss is made with natural and organic oils- which I love. The shade opulence gives your lips a really juicy sheen, and I am really enjoying it.

Coloured Rain Eyeshadow In Champagne Life

It’s no secret that I love the Coloured Rain shadow formula so I was happy to get this in my box. Ever since I did my singles cruise look, I have been reaching for my single shadows much more often!

The shade is a really pretty and pigmented champagne, just as you would expect. It really makes the inner corner pop. It also makes a beautiful lid shade.

Makeup Geek Highlighter In Midnight Sun

This is my first ever makeup geek highlight! Looking at the shade in the pan I was a little disappointed, because I thought it may end up too dark for my skin tone.

It actually turned out looking really nice on the skin. It kind of reminds me of how Becca Opal looks on me. The makeup geek highlight is buttery and pigmented. I’m stoked that i finally got to try one!

L.O.C.K Color Unicorn Glow Long Wear Primer

I really like this primer. It gave my that lit from with in glow, with out making my skin look glittery or oily. I am probably going to pick up the full size once I finish this sample.

Betty Boop x Ipsy Cheek to Cheek Blush Palette

I was initially hesitant about this product, because I wasn’t too impressed with Ipsy last colab. Fortunately, this is a great little blush palette. You get on matte blush and two toppers.

The shades are just a bit chalky. But, that isn’t a big deal to me, I can tap my brush off. The shades look beautiful on my fair skin. I can see my self reaching for this a ton. Good job Ipsy!

BioRace L’eau Hydrating Treatment Serum

This serum felt very moisturizing and I do feel that it helped improve my complexion. It didn’t not feel like too much either. It was gentle and sunk in to my skin quickly.

F.A.R.A.H Brushes Midnight Pro Trio

It wouldn’t be an Ipsy bag or box without som FARAH brushes. This trio actually feels like much better quality than the previous FARAH brushes I have gotten. This trio comes with a blush brush, a foundation brush, and a smaller stippling brush. They do their job well and there was no shedding. The shape of the handle makes them easy to hold as well.

Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions Palette

Funny story. I used to have this palette. Then got rid of it and regretted it a week later. However, I wasn’t going to go buy it again. So, getting it in my box made me super happy!

The mattes are buttery and pigmented. The metallic really packs a punch. This is the perfect quick, easy and cohesive fall palette. I honesty prefer the smaller huda palettes to the larger ones.

My thoughts?

The one con I have with this box is that product prices are not included on the card. Other than that, I love it! There was a nice mix of skin care and makeup. Everything works for me, and it’s all stuff I will actually use. I have seen other people review their Ipsy Ultimate, and they didn’t seem to happy. I must be the weird one out, because I am excited about this box. I am totally okay with the $50 price tag. I do have to say, I miss the regular Ipsy. I may end up re subbing, just because I miss her.

Did you get Ipsy Ultimate? What are your thoughts on the box?

Singles Cruise Challenge | I am late to the band wagon

I was browsing the old YouTube and found singles cruise videos. I decided, “hey, you have three drawers of single shadows. Get started on that!”

I took my inner selfs advice and picked one of my drawers and had my little brother pick 5 random numbers between 1 and 31.

He picked; 17, 6,11, 26, and 13.

The numbers he picked ended up making a super cohesive look, with fall vibes.

The first shade is Serious from Urban Decay. It’s a deep gray with some glitter, that looks purple to me. By the way, I got this for $6 at TJMaxx. Look around, don’t spend the $20.

The nest shade is strange and off putting from Notoriously Morbid. This is a made brown that pulls very orange. I would almost just call it terra-cotta. It’s a perfect fall pigment.

I have another really warm brown to work with. NYX Whipped Mocha. I believe my little sister got this in an advent calendar last year, and gave it to me. The formula of this shadow is actually super nice and makes me want to try more from NYX. I actually haven’t used many of their products!

The next shade is the Naked Cosmetics Pigment in Sierra Nevada. This is a pigment I reach for often for my inner corner or to add some glitter all over the lid. I really enjoy the Naked Cosmetics pigments and I am glad that I have gotten some from Ipsy in the past.

The last shade is a beautiful metallic copper from Medusa’s Makeup called Brown Sugar. This pigment is so pretty, and I don’t give it the use it deserves.

The Look

  • I started by priming my kid and setting it as usual.
  • With a fluffy crease brush I buffed Whipped Mocha in my crease and up almost to my brow bone.
  • Take a bit of a fluffy shader I packed Strange and off putting on the our part of my lid.
  • Using the same brush I packed Brown Sugar on the rest of my lid.
  • With a smaller crease brush a used Serious to deepen up my crease.

  • I popped Sierra Nevada on my inner corner.
  • I took an angled liner brush and placed Serious on my lower lash line.
  • I did the exact same step, using the same brush, with Whipped Mocha.
  • With a small fluffy brush I buffed everything out with Strange and Off Putting.

That is the look! I am happy with how it turned out and thought this was a ton of fun. I will definitely be doing more posts like this!

How do you get use of your single shadows? Do you have a single shadow you are in love with?

Ipsy x Tetris Block Party Palette | Sub Box Win or Whomp

I love Tetris. It is a nice way to relieve anxiety and relax after a long day. Of course, a Tetris themed makeup collaboration was super exciting to me. While I was excited, life got in the way and I had not been able to play with the palettes.

Well, I finally played around with Block Party, and I have some two cents to throw at y’all.

The packaging

The packing is made of a sturdy card board. The out side sports Tetris shapes in different shades of purple and pink. There is a magnetic closure.

Fun fact: purple is my favorite color! As well as my Mama Tams, and my Mama Kathy’s who recently passed away. Please expect a post discussing Lupus and how it has affected my family. I want to spread awareness, she would want me to.

Back to the point.

The inside is decorated with different colored hearts, the palette name and a nice mirror. The shade names are also included.

Over all, super cute packaging and it isn’t too bulky.

The Swatches

  • Skyline: A matte cool brown. I would say it is right in the middle of a basic transition and a defined shade. It did work for both of these purposes.
  • T-Spin: A Metallic silver. Very pretty swatched, but I had a lot of trouble working with it. Wet or dry. It just wanted to fall all over the place.
  • Top out: A royal blue metallic. This ended up being my favorite shade. A bit difficult to work with, but it looks beautiful on the eyes.

  • Back-to-back: A matte cream shade. I think this is a great staple shade for palettes to have. Great for setting primer, great for blending.
  • Line Clear: A Metallic hot pink. This shade works best with the fingers and is very pretty. The fallout is crazy though. Other metallic shadows I have do not do that.
  • High Score: A metallic Purple. This is the shade my eye draws to, however, I could not get it to appear on my eye as it does in the pan and the swatch. Disappointed.

The Look

The look I did was super simple.

  • I primed my eyes with concealer and set it with Back-to-back. I would continue to use this shade to blend out harsh edges.
  • I used a fluffy brush with Skyline to create a transition, I also used a more packed brush to define the crease using the same shade.
  • Using my finger I placed High Score on the outer part of my lid.
  • Using a different finger I placed Line Clear on the rest of my lid.

  • I placed t-spin on my inner corner.
  • For my lower lash line I applied Top Out, which really popped!

Over All Thoughts?

I have to say, for me, this is a whomp. The color story is beautiful and I love the nostalgia of Tetris, but I just had to much trouble working with this palette. The lattes are great, and the blue is a dream, but I have all these shades in other palettes, in formulas that work for me. I will be passing this palette along to a friend or family member. I am currently unable to find the price of the palette, but if my memory serves me right, I believe it was in the mid $20 range.

That being said. Just because it didn’t work for me, doesn’t mean it won’t for you. If it sparks your interest, people are selling theirs on eBay and Mercari and much lower price points. Just because someone else doesn’t like something doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give it a go if you are interested!

Have you tried this palette? What are your thoughts?

My last Ipsy Un-bagging | September 2019

If you read my Ipsy Plus post for this month, you would know that I sadly will no longer be getting the normal ipsy, because I opted in to their new level service and did not find it practical to still receive Glam Bag and Glam Bag Plus.

Ipsy Glam Bag is now $12 a month and you receive 5 deluxe samples sized, some times full sized beauty items.

The bag

This months Bag is beautiful. It is a dusty mauve color with a what appears to be rose quartz crystal on the zipper. The bag feels very nicely made! I will miss getting a bag each month.

What’s inside?

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask

I am not a big fan of sleeping masks. My skin never reacts well to them, so I am wary of trying this. I will probably throw it in as a freebie with a Mercari purchase.

IBY Beauty Highlighter in Private Jet

My next item is a cute little highlighter from IBY. It is the perfect size for travel, with sturdy packaging. It is also cruelty free and vegan!

I think the shade may be too gold for my fair skin tone, but I am willing to give it a try. Maybe more so for my inner corner and brow bone.

Ofra Cosmetics x Madison Miller Ollie need is love Blush

This is a really peach blush. I think it is really pretty and will appear nicely on my skin. It is very buttery, and there is the smallest bit on shimmer in the product. This did not transfer to the swatch.

Phase Zero Makeup Satin Eyeshadow In Velvet

If I remember correctly, Phase Zero is also a cruelty free brand!

The shade Velvet is a very pretty metallic burgundy. I cannot wait to just throw this shadow all over my lids!

Too Faced Damn Girl Mascara

I actually already own the full size of this mascara and love it. It really does give the false lash effect. The packaging is also adorable.

My Add-ons

With Ipsy’s add on program you can purchase a few extra products at some awesome prices!

Ofra x Madison Miller Highlighter In Moondance

This highlighter is beautiful and I got it for only $12, maybe even $9!

It is a light yellow gold- perfect for my fair skin!

Ofra x Madison Miller Liquid Lip In Oh My Ry Ry

This liquid lip is named after Madison’s daughter Riley, who is precious.

The shade is a really pretty mauve, so just my type. The Ofra Liquid Lip Formula is fantastic, I would try any Ofra shade thrown at me and probably love it.

Over all?

I think this was a great bag to go out on. I got some beautiful products and the bag itself is stunning.

What was in your Ipsy bag?

Ipsy Plus Unboxing | September 2019

I have another unboxing for you all!

To start, I want to let you all know that this will be my last month of normal Ipsy and Ipsy plus, as I decided to upgrade to their newest 12 item box, and just could not justify keeping the regular and the plus.

Ipsy plus contains 5 full sized beauty products based off your beauty profile. It is $21 a month.

This months box is themed “find your light”. Apparently September is all about new paths and possibilities, which really fits my life right now!

Let’s go ahead and get into the pretty pink box.

Paris Hilton Skincare Pro DNA Dual- Action Cleansing Gel $39

The packaging of the cleanser is not what I would expect from the likes of Paris Hilton, but I like it.

This cleanser has shimmer, I guess because it’s Paris Hilton. Caviar Lime, Pineapple based brightener, Apple amino, and white tea.

This cleanser is cruelty free! I have to say, I get excited about trying pricey skin care. I would never purchase it, but it is fun while I have it.

Nomad Cosmetics Berlin Underground Intense Eyeshadow Palette $37

I have wanted this palette so badly! Nomad is an indie brand, and I love supporting indie brands. The color story is beautiful and right up my alley. There is only one matte, but I have enough palettes that I can pull into assist in creating a look.

Here are some of the shades swatched. Featuring my new bird skull tattoo! The shades are intense and butter. They look amazing on the lids. The quality is just stellar. I have to try more from Nomad!

Ciaté London Extraordinary Translucent Powder $22

I have been wanting to try a new translucent powder, so this arrived at the perfect time.

The powder is soft and finely milled. It did not make any areas on my face feel dry or cakey. The packaging does not have a way to close the sifter, so be careful when you open it after you take off the plastic seal.

Wander Beauty Frame your Face Micro Brow Pencil “Taupe” $21

This is a super basic micro brow pencil. Worked just like the ABH brow wiz for me, and the color match is great.

Ofra Cosmetics x Madison Miller Squad Palette $35

If you are unaware of who Madison Miller is, she is a YouTuber who works with Ipsy. She creates some great content, I recommend checking her out. She recently came out with a collection with Ofra, and I guess this is one of the products!

There are two highlights and one blush. I cannot use the darker highlight on my face, but it is really pretty in the inner corner. The blush shade is more of a dusty rose- which is the blush shades I lead towards. The lighter highlight works well on my fair skin and is very glowy!

Here are all the products on my face

Over all thoughts?

I got an amazing box this month! For $21 I got $154 worth of beauty products. Going out with a bang with Ipsy plus.

What was in your box this month?

Thank you for reading 💜

Ipsy Glam Bag | August 2019

Welcome back!

Today we are un-bagging the $10 Ipsy Glam Bag!

The bag this month is really cute. The shade I got is hunter green. The zipper is good and the inside is hot pink! It seems really nicely made, and I love the studded texture.

Now, for the exciting part. The items in the bag!

Thrive Cosmetics liquid lash extensions Mascara “Brynn”

I have been wanting to try the Thrive mascara, thanks to a few YouTubers. I usually enjoy tubing mascara, but I am glad I get to try a sample before purchasing the full size. It is also neat to see a brand like Thrive in Ipsy!

Comelyco Blueberry And Peach Mask Sheet

I love sheet masks, so I will never be unhappy with getting them in Ipsy. I have also been throwing sheet masks in as extras in my Mercari orders.

It Cosmetics Confidence in a Gel Lotion Moisturizer

This is a little sample that is mostly empty. It is like the free samples Ulta throws into orders. I have a ton of skin care, so I will probably pass this sample along to someone else.

Luxie Beauty Periwinkle Blending Brush 237

I love Luxie brushes, so I am happy with this item! It is soft and well made, per Luxies usual quality.

Suva Beauty Eyeshadow “Turmeric”

The Suva Beauty Formula is really nice. It is buttery and pigment. Super easy to work with!

The shade is a nice, basic gold.

over all thoughts?

It is not the best Ipsy I have gotten, but it is not terrible.

That was in your Ipsy bag?
