Make-Up Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighters; Drug Store Gem?

920

Hey guys,

Let’s take a break from the subscription boxes for a second and do a product review.

I purchased the Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter In “Golden Lights” back in July. You saw this if you follow my Instagram _beautytidbits_blog which I am really try to become more invested in. But, I am the worst at flat lays.

After trying that shade for awhile, I decided to order the other 2 shades of it that Ulta carries. I also want to note, they recently came out with a “Rose Gold” shade, but Ulta does not have it yet.

Highlighter is a crazy popular product, and finding a good one can get expensive. But, you don’t have to spend an up wards of $25 to get a good glow!

“Golden Lights”, “Radiant Lights”, and “Peach Lights”

Talk about coming through. As you can tell from the swatches, these guys have some great pigmentation. And, in case you were wondering, this does give you a BAM highlight on your face. Every shade!

Packaging:

The pans are in a hard plastic compact, with a domed lid. This is a baked product, so it is more raised than normal. It contains 7.5 grams of product.

Application:

My preferred way to apply this highlight, well all powdered highlights is with the ELF highlighting brush, sometimes a fan brush. KEEP IN MIND THIS DOES CONTAIN DIMETHICONE. I know some people do try to avoid this ingredient. All three shades apply easily and are easy to blend. They can also be used wet! I highlight my cheek bones, nose, cupid’s bow, and sometimes use the highlight to pop my inner corner and under my brow bone.

Wear/Over All Thoughts:

I have tried a ton of highlighters. Especially drugstore ones. The Makeup Revolution Baked Vivd’s are by far my favorite, and they are only $6 at Ulta! It is pigmented enough to give you that ever so popular in your face highlight, easy to blend, and crazy inexpensive. I wanted to compare these highlighters to a more expensive one, so you can really see why you don’t have to shell out a butt ton of money to look like a glowing goddess.

Here they are compared to The Balms Mary Lumanizer. I would even go as far as to say that “Golden Lights” is a dupe for Mary Lou! I would 100% say that this is a drugstore gem and well worth the $6 it costs.

I hope you enjoyed this post! What is your favorite drugstore highlight? What about highend? Comment below! Want more B&T? Check this out!

The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony. *Win or Waste?*

meetmatte

Hello Interweb!

Ipsy recently had an offer on the Meet Matt(e) Trimony palette, for only $22! It is usually $42 on the Balms website. They do tend to have a lot of sales and discount codes, so it is easy to find it at least a little it discounted.

I have decided to do this Win or Waste a bit differently. I am going to list all of my thoughts on this palette through bullet points. It is an easier way for me to organize my thoughts, sense they don’t always fit into a specific category like I try to make them to.

  • The packaging is adorable. It has a retro looking picture of a man on the front, a small one on the back, and it light and navy blue. I like blue. On the back of the palette is also a little section that looks like a dating profile. Has height, job, etc. It is the kind of thing that I am going to keep displayed.

meetmatte2

  • The palette has 9 large pans of matte shadows. The net weight is 0.756 OZ. The shades are all really pretty, I especially love the matte plum and burgundy, I don’t have any others like it!
  • Are the names of the shades not hilarious!? They all have people names!! I really enjoy that, makes me giggle.
  • The shades are all matte, no shimmer or satin at all.

meetmatte3

  • Here are all of the shades swatched in order. They are all very pigmented, but the darker shades do have quite  bit of fall out. The feel buttery to the had and go on the lid nicely. They blend out pretty easily, but if you blend too much the lighter shades just disappear.
  • SO, is it a Win, or is it a Waste? For the $22 I payed, yes it is a win! Buttttt, I wouldn’t buy it full price. The burgundy and plum are different than anything else I own, but the other shades are not.
  • If you want a good matte palette I highly suggest the Kat Von D shade and light eye large palette and the quads. In fact, if I end up getting the quads in “Rust” and “Plum”, I will probably pass this palette on to someone else.  Kind of disappointed, considering one of my favorite Youtuber’s EmilyNoel83 raves about The Balm products quite often. Oh well, when some lose some!!

What are your favorite matte shadows? Have and requests? any Any post ideas? Please, let me know!

*Ipsy UN-Bagging* July 2016

julyipsyHello Tidbitters! Does that greeting work? I feel like everyone else has a greeting.

I bring you my July Ipsy un-bagging on this fine Saturday. If you are some how not aware Ipsy is a beauty subscription service and gives you 5 products and a makeup bag for $10 each month.

I personally like to start each review with the bag itself.

The Bag

Is this months bag just summer embodied or what!? It is holo, with little beach umbrellas, and the “Ipsy” looks like it is under water! I do not get to go to the beach this year, so any little thing that brings me closer in very welcomed. Besides that, it seems to be very sturdy, which is also very welcomed.

The Products

Luxie 215 Angle liner brush: Cute pink and rose gold brush, I believe from the Luxie Rose Gold Collection. The hairs are crazy soft and it all seems to be made very nicely. I has a nice feel in the hand as well. For some reason mine has an overwhelming smell of paint. Anyone have this issue as well or is it just me? Price: $10

Be Fine food skin care night cream: I do not think I can take anymore moisturizing samples. But, I digress. This product has cocoa, millet, and rice bran ( along with a shit tone of other stuff they didn’t want to put on the front.) It is allergen free, fragrance free, and has vegetarian proteins. It is 1 Fl. Oz. It is actually a really good consistency for the hotter summer nights and is; in fact, fragrance free. I will probably actually get some use out of this. Price: $15.99-$30

The Balm Meet Matte Trimony Single “Matt Kumar”: I am just going to jump in to this and say I love the shadow so much that I bought the palette from Ipsy. It is so creamy and pigmented! Price: $22 on Ipsy as of last night (7/15/16) Normal :$42

Model Launcher Felt Tep Liner “Emerald Isle”: The shade is pretty and pnce it dries ( which is quick) it does not budge. It isn’t as pigmented as I would like it to be, so we will see how much use I get out of it. Price: $13

Trestique mini highlight stick “Maldives Luminescent”: I have literally only seen this brand when Ipsy is involved. I digress. I really like the packaging. It reminds me of a cheaper version of the Marc Jacobs pencil products only it is matte black not a silver. I perfer matte black. The high light itself is beautiful and I have already gotten quite a bit of use out of it. Makes me want to try more of the brand.the sample size is 0.04 Oz. Price: $34 (mother of God)

**All prices listed are FULL SIZE.**

Overall, I am really happy with this months bag! Ipsy is fantastic and you really do get way WAY more than what you pay for. Each month just seems to get better and better.

What was in your Ipsy bag this month?
