Makeup Empties | August 2019

Hello everyone, welcome to my blog!

During the month of August, I finished a nice little amount of makeup items, so I figured I could take this opportunity to make a dedicated makeup empties post.

I am going to give you my thoughts and we will see if any of these products will find their way back into my shopping cart.

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation shade Y225 *Sample Size*

I did enjoy this sample. The foundation is full coverage and did not break me out. However, MUF is not cruelty free. Therefore, I will not be purchasing the full size of this foundation.

Wet N Wild Skinny Mascara

I thought this mascara was going to work well for my water line, but it did not really do much. Even if WNW has not lied about their CF status, I still would not purchase this mascara.

IT Cosmetics Brow Power “Universal Taupe”

I got this brow pencil in a subscription box, and it did its job very well. The shade matched well and I enjoy the consistency. I don’t agree with paying $20+ for brow products, but if the Brow Power pencil was on sale, I would purchase it!

Butter London Power Up Mascara

This is another subscription box item. This mascara was amazing. I really enjoyed it. However, there are cheaper ones that I enjoy more. If I were to see this mascara on sale, I would probably pick up a tube. It made my lashes look very full, which is hard to do.

Essence Brow Pencil

This is a $2-3 brow pencil that I love. I purchase multiple at once and always have one in my makeup bag. It is inexpensive, cruelty free, and does its job well. I will be repurchasing. Side note; would any of you be interested in a more comprehensive view of the brand essence?

Ulta Beauty Brown Tint In Soft Brown

This brow tint is great! It is a nice alternative to products like the glossier boy brow. I bounce between the shades soft brown and auburn. This is another brow product I always have on hand and will be repurchasing. I believe it is around $9? It is, of course, cruelty free!

Another side note; would any of you be interested in a more comprehensive review of the Ulta Beauty in house brand?

That is it for my makeup empties for August!

What is a makeup item you panned or used up this month?

Breaking News: Wet N’ Wild is no longer Logical Harmony Approved!

I had another post planned today, but in light of recent news, I thought that this update was an important piece of news to share.

It appears that beloved brand Wet N’ Wild has been selling in stores in main land China despite claiming to be cruelty free.

What does this mean? This means that by Logical Harmony standards Wet N’ Wild is NOT cruelty free.

Why? When selling in store in main land China, brands subject them selves to post market testing. Meaning, at any time the government can pull the products from shelves, with out alerting the brand, for animal testing.

For more updates and more of an explanation, please watch the latest logical harmony video on YouTube. Here!

For a complete list of Cruelty Brands please visit The official Logical Harmony website

The image above is my collection of Wet N Wild makeup. What is used I will be passing on to family and friends. What is not I will be donating to a local women’s shelter.

Other brands to try:

Jordana

ELF

Makeup Revolution

Milani

Cover Girl

Ipsy January 2019| First impressions!

With it being the beginning of the new year, I feel that I am hold my Subscriptions to higher standards. I am hoping the quality of them this month will set the standard for their quality for the rest of 2019.

Let’s get into Ipsy and see what kind of year it is going to be.

Ipsy is $10 a month. You receive 5 deluxe sample-full sized beauty products or makeup. It is supposed to be geared to your likes, based on their quiz.

The bag itself

The bag is cute, reminds me of spring. It is not something I will use though, passing it on to a friend. That is no big deal tough.

So Susan Dream Maker Light Shifting Highlighting Cream “POP Star”

I have wanted to play with cream products more, so I was pleased to receive this high light.

1st Impression: Blinding! Blends out best with your fingers or a beauty blender.

Illamasqua Coloring Pencil “Honour”

This is the first Illamasqua product I have ever tried! I am actually really excited about this, which is silly because it is just a brown eye liner.

1st impression: The product is creamy and lasted a long time in my water line. I think this is my new go to liner!

Hola Neon Velvet Liquid Lipstick “DF”

I have never heard of this brand. But, it was nice to receive a full sized liquid lip. I do love trying new to me brands.

1st Impression: The color is really pretty. It last quite a while, then I decided to drink some water. Then it came off patchy. So, don’t expected it to last through drinking or eating. But, what does last through it?

Akar Mini Care Lip Butter

I feel like I have heard of this brand before. Anyway, I have been in the market for a product to repair my winter worn lips.

1st Impression: The lip butter is super creamy. My lips actually felt really nice the rest of the day. I can see myself going through this rather quickly.

Jeju:en Sheet Masks

I will be honest, when I read the names I actually laughed out loud. I’m so mature.

I haven’t tried these masks yet, but I am anxious to see how well they work. Keep yours eyes out for an empties post, they may be in there with a mini review!

Ipsy Add Ons.

I took the opportunity this month to purchase two add ons. I really enjoy this new program!

Luxie Small Contour Brush added on for $3

I have said it a million times. I LOVE Luxie brushes.

1st Impression: I used the Wet n’ Wild contour duo and it blended out seamlessly extremely quickly. Great brush from Luxie as always.

Tarte Double Duty Beaty Make Every Moment Count Cheek Palette added on for $12

What a steal!!

I love Tarte blushes, so I jumped on this as soon as I saw it.

1st Impression: I used the shade “Love”. Must I say more besides Tarte Blush? They have my favorite blush formula. Love this palette, I am so glad I added it to my bag!

Here are all the products that I tried on my face! Please ignore my too bold brows.

Over all?

I am super happy with this bag! I am really looking forward to what Ipsy has to bring for 2019.

What was in your Ipsy bag?

Cruelty Free Drugstore Haul| Update

This is Carl! He is also super excited about cruelty free things.

If you look at the bottom shelf you can see where I am making my way through my noncruelty Free haircare! I may donate the rest to a shelter.

I think it’s important to talk about cruelty free brands at the drugstore. We can’t all afford pricey items, so it is nice to have less expensive options. Be on the look out for more drugstore posts!

*you can see prices in my previous post **

Flower Beauty Draw the Line brow pencil

I loveeeee this brow pencil. It isn’t the thinnest, but it is really easy to blend out and it didn’t budge. If I can’t find a thinner one, I will probably go back to this pencil!

Found beauty Illuminating Baked Blush “Peach Glow”

I really enjoyed the subtle glow and warmth this blush gave me. The other one “rose Glow” that I purchased from the line is beautiful as well. I think I am going to have to pick up another shade or two!

Wet N Wild Shadow Quad “Flock Party”

I will be honest, as a whole I did not like this palette. I love the shades on their own, but this isn’t a one and done palette, I had to pull in mad for matte by elf.

But, if you don’t have a cranberry shimmer in your collection- get this palette. Individually the shades are awesome. Inexpensive and pigmented. And in theory you could use only this palette for a look, I just personally couldn’t get that to happen.

If you don’t have these shades or just want some drugstore options, I would pick this guy up. I did get a ton of compliments on the eye look I did, I thought it wasn’t a good look, so the shadows must be doing their job.

Physicians Formula Healthy Wear Foundation

I just wanted to start off by saying I hate the applicator. I have to dip into the bottle a ton. I think that also may contribute to how tight the stopper is on it. Contemplating taking the stopper out.

When you apply the foundation it definitely gives a your skin but better look. I have it on in the two previous photos and I though my skin looked great. I blended it out with a beauty blender and it was super easy to work with, and you don’t need to use a whole lot of product.

8hours later

For 8 hours in an office whose AC went out, I think this foundation held up fairly well. I was impressed. I did get shiny, but that’s my oily skins fault. I also didn’t touch up with concealer or powder at all.

Here is another picture with the foundation right after application. I think it is the perfect everyday foundation. BUT I do think the shade selection is terrible. The Wet N Wild foundation that the entire world talks about is also very similar to it. But, if you don’t mind paying the extra few bucks, I say pick up the Physicians Formula Heathy Skin Foundation.

Over all

I am really happy with this haul!! The only thing I don’t absolutely love is the quad and that’s mainly because I think it needs a dark matte, but I also wouldn’t want to loose any of the shades in it….

Basically, if you see any of these items I think they are more than worth getting your hands on!

What are some CrueltyFree products you would love to see reviewed??

Cruelty Free Drugstore Haul | I just needed a brow pencil.

I am such an impulse shopper. I just wanted a brow pencil that didn’t cost $20…But, then I saw a $3 off coupon on the newer Physicians Formula foundation.

Physicians Formula Healthy Skin Foundation “LC1” $12.99

I have wanted to give this foundation a try from the moment I heard it start to be hyped up. Anytime a Cruelty Free drugstore product is being hyped up I, one get really excited that a cruelty free item is getting attention, and two need it for myself.

Every time I went to get it the lightest shade, which I needed, was sold out. This time there was one left…and a coupon!

Found Beauty Baked Illuminating Blushes “Rose Glow” & “Peach Glow” $8.88

I have heard mixed reviews about the Found Beauty line, so I decided I need to give some items from the line a go for myself. I wanted to try some new blushes, so I started with these.

They are really pigmented and definitely stick true to the claim of illumination!

Flower Beauty Brow Pencil $7.99

This is the only reason I was I the beauty aisles. I am hoping that it will replace higher end brow pencils for me.

Wet N’ Wild Baked Blush “Humming Bird Hype” $4.99

This is the only one of the limited edition blushes that really seemed like it may work for me. The other was a pale pink and there was also one that was almost a cranberry shade.

I do like peach shades, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to give this a try. Iris less than $5.

Wet N’ Wild “Flock Party” Quad $2.93

I really enjoy Wet N’ Wild eyeshadows. I also really enjoy the colors that have been grouped together in this quad. The gold/ cranberry trend is one I can actually support.

I may have to pull in another matte or two, but I mean it’s less than $3!!!

That is all for my little haul. Keep your eyes open for an update post and more hauls!

ColourPop “You Had Me At Hello” | Look and Review

Hello everyone, welcome!

Today, at work we moved into our new office building. Out side my office window there were baby geese, baby deer, and baby rabbits all along with their parents. I love spring! Seeing things like that helps to remind me why I choose to live a cruelty free life!

Speaking of cruelty free, it is no secret that I love the brand ColourPop. If you saw my April BoxyCharm, then you know I got a ColourPop palette I have never tried before. The “You Had Me At Hello” palette!

The palette retails for $18 on ColourPop.com and has 12 shades, sturdy packaging, and has a great mirror.

The shades come in a variety of finishes and are very on par with recent trends. Warm and mauvey!

Let’s go through the shades.

Row 1

The Knot: metallic cool-toned ivory

Moon Struck: metallic soft gold

Two Peas: matte peachy beige

Candygram: metallic pinky red with gold duochrome

Row 2

Winning Ticket: matte dusty mauve pink

FBO: metallic pink violet

Look-See: matte cool-toned plum

Fool’s Rush: metallic golden bronze

Row 3

Pulling Strings: matte warm saddle brown

Want U Back: matte dusty mauve brown

DTR: metallic silvery taupe

Sparks Fly: matte deep plummy brown

*I apologize if there is a strange font change, I copied the color descriptions from ColourPop to make sure they were accurate and it changed my font. Which I can’t fix it😩😩😩

The Look

  • I primed my eyes with the Wet N’ Wild Photofocus Eye Primer. How does ColourPop not have their own Primer!?
  • I set the Primer with a skin tone shade. Unfortunately this palette does not have a matte ivory shade, but that’s fine I have 1284729 of them! And my favorite is a 99 cent single so. 💁‍♀️
  • I used a large fluffy crease brush and started in the middle of my crease, then going outwards I buffed in the shade “Two Peas”.
  • Then using the ColourPop blender brush I did the same thing with the shade “Pulling Strings” just more concentrated.
  • Using a Luxie 237 brush I did the same thing again with the shade “Sparks Fly”, just even MORE concentrated.
  • All over the lid I packed on the shade “DTR” with the ELF C Shadow brush. No fix plus needed!
  • I then used the ColourPop packing brush and in the very center popped on the shade “MoonStruck.”
  • I right lined with a brown liner
  • Oh yeah, don’t for get to BLEND!!

  • I popped the shade “The Knot” in my inner corner.
  • I lined my water line with a nude line and packed on the shade “Look-See” as close as I could to my water line.
  • I blended that out with “Two Peas”.
  • Mascara the lashes!

Over all thoughts

I love this palette!! It is my new go to. The shades are all pigmented and so buttery. The only flaw is the lack of a matte cream shade, but that isn’t a big deal. “You Had Me At Hello” is Cruelty Free, beautiful, inexpensive, and easy to work with. What more could I want!?

🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥 out of five baby geese! Get you hands on this palette, you won’t regret it!!

Get it Here!!

What is your favorite ColourPop item?

Jan & Feb 2018 Beauty Empties | it’s a lot..

I have a ton of empties piled up. I haven’t been in a good place lately, so I have been slacking very badly. I am trying to get better.

Makeup

MAC Fix +: if MAC was Cruelty Free, not selling where testing is required by law. I would 100% repurchase. But, I have heard they are making the change to pull out of these places!

Jordana Fabuliner: I have liked this liquid liner for a long time. Inexpensive and works well. Have repurchased.

Becca Backlight Primer: I loved this Primer. I think I will be purchasing the full size!

Too Faced Sketch Marker: this and the Jordana one are very similar. I think I will just stick with the Jordana one.

Beauty Without Cruelty Mascara: The more I’ve used this mascara the more I have loved it. I would consider repurchasing it again once I get through the ones I have.

Sephora Beauty Amplifier Setting Spray: It worked alright, but the Sephora house brand isn’t cruelty free, so I will not repurchase.

L’Oréal Hydra Perfect Loose Powder: works well as a setting powder, but it isn’t cruelty free. Too bad though, this used to be my favorite powder.

YSL Touché Eclate: lives up to the hype. But, it sadly isn’t cruelty free so I won’t be repurchasing it.

Pür Blending Sponge: these are the best blending sponges…. will not repurchase.

In shower products

(Please keep in mind my grandma stock piles these kinds of products so i end up with a ton of random brands, can’t tell Granny no!)

Tone Radiant Glow Body Wash: I wish all brands were cruelty free. This body wash is so inexpensive and works so well! But, I will not purchase.

St.Ives Nourish and Soothe Body wash: My Mom picked this out because she thought it would help my eczema. It did soothe it during flair ups. But, I man searching for cruelty free alternatives.

Pantene Sheer Volume Conditioner: Smelled nice and did it’s basic job. Is not cruelty free so I will not repurchase it.

L’Oréal Color Vibrancy Shampoo: I literally have no opinion on this. Will not repurchase.

Garnier Sleek & Shine: I used to love this line before I went cruelty free. It smells nice and works well. To bad the brand ethics aren’t up to par.

Face Masks

SNP Animal Otter Aqua Mask: this Mask was cute, but I don’t remember it doing anything. I don’t think it is cruelty free, so no thank you.

Biobelle #iwokeuplikethis: I actually really liked this mask! I have another and will be doing a full review so stay tuned!

Salis Skincare Blackhead Removal Mask: I got thins in a vegan Cuts box. Unfortunately it didn’t work the few times I tried it. I will not purchase.

Sephora Green Tea Face Mask: I actually loved this mask. A friend got it for me for Christmas! Sephora needs to make their in house brand more ethical 🙄 I won’t repurchase it until they do so.

Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Detox Eye Patch: Sadly, these did nothing for my eyes. Will not purchase.

Tony Moly Avocado Mask: I don’t really remember this mask so I guess it was too great. Will not repurchase.

Skincare

Belli Anti-Blemish Facial Wash: I love this face wash a will repurchase it! I will probably pick up more from the brand as well.

Wet N’ Wild Micellar Water: I actually really disliked this micellar water, it burned my eyes pretty badly. Will not repurchase.

Soap by Riggs Black Raspberry and Vanilla: I love the formula, I just wasn’t a fan of the scent. Will purchase in different scents.

Box Naturals Rose Wipes: I used the full box but didn’t want to put that in the bin, so I put in an empty packet instead. I think I am going to repurchase the lavender instead of rose. I like the scent better.

Cotton Rounds: I am actually looking to purchase some reusable cotton rounds. Any suggestions?

Ole Henriksen Oil Control Toner and Moisturizer: I love this line. I want to research their cruelty free status more. If they are up to par I will gladly repurchase.

Clairsea Charcoal Exfoliant: I already repurchased! I have talked about his scrub before. I love it!

Random products

Batiste Dry Shampoo Original: I love this Dry Shampoo, but I want to try something new. What is your favorite?

Degree Motion Sense: I started having a reaction to my Schmittds Deodorant:,( I had to grab one quickly. Would not repurchase.

PYT Argon Oil: works great, but the price is a bit high. Will not repurchase.

Aquaphor: I need a better tattoo goo type product. I’m working on my sleeve so I need it. But, don’t want to repurchase this.

Wallflower “Leaves”: I am still slowly working through these. Love the scent but will not repurchase.

Lavender Essential Oil: This one is from Mel’s Candles. I will be repurchasing!

What is your favorite essential oils and incense??

Thank you so much for reading💜

That is it for my empties!

New Wet N’ Wild Eyeshadows | Looks, comparisons, and review!

I firmly believe that you don’t have to spend your entire paycheck to get good Cruelty Free Makeup. A big reason I believe this is because of the brand Wet N Wild. Their eyeshadows have always been fantastic, their blushes are great, and their lipsticks are amazing. Like all brands they have their duds, but lately they have been blowing it out of the water. On top of that, the Wet N Wild brand is very inexpensive!

When I heard they were reformulating their eyeshadows and releasing new shades, I admittedly got a little too excited. I picked up all of the 10 pan palettes, 2 of the quads, and 3 of the singles. By the way, the prices haven’t changed!

This post a going to be very long, so bare with me, and let’s play with some eyeshadow!

Comparing the old and the new:

“Comfort Zone” $4.99

I am sure you have all heard of the “comfort zone” Palette. It’s a neutral green palette, that contained a few MAC dupes, more specifically I contains a dupe for what I believe is the shade blue green. (I THINK that is the name.)

In the new palette there are two matte shades added, the layout of the shades is different, the blue/green shade is sadly gone, and replaced with a metallic brown/gold.

The new packaging is much sturdier than the old packaging. Hopefully it will be much harder to break and the shadows won’t shatter with the slightest bump. I have had that happened to me a lot with the old formula, because it was so soft. I do want to point out that the price point did not change!

The old palette is the top row, and the new palette is the bottom. The new palette is not as powdery as the shadows in the old one are. They are also more pigmented, the shimmery and metallic shades feel and preform a lot like what typical “metallic” shadows do now. You can definitely tell there was a formula change. Two new shadows were added, making it 10 pan instead of 8. Really, the only way the new palette has disappointed me is by excluding that blue/green shade.

The new palette is on the left eye, the old is on the right. You can tell just by looking at the pictures that the new palette doesn’t clump up as much as the old one did. I think it was due to the excess powder, sense the formula was so soft. The new formula is so much easier to blend!

I stuck with the green side and did pull in other random mattes, since the old palette had no mattes.

Walking on Egg Shells $2.99

I’m

Another favorite of a lot of people is the, what was a trio now a quad, “Walking on Egg Shells”.

There is a new matte shadow added to the palette, other than that there is no shade change!!!

As before the old palette is on top, and the new is on bottom. So far the new formula is consistently more pigmented.

My left eye was done with the new palette, and my right was done with the old. Again, the new formula is much easier to blend!

Ignore my Blush please, I have no idea what I’m the world I did.

Single shades “Brûlée” and “Nutty” $.99

“Brûlée ” and “Nutty” are staple shades. The new “Brûlée ” is much more pigmented, I used it to set my eye Primer and it did a fantastic job at getting rid of the blue veins on my lids. The original “Brûlée ” never did this, it was just a nice way to set the Primer and blur out harsh lines.

The new “Nutty” has a bit more shimmer to it, but I can’t notice that big of a difference.

I also picked up one of the glitters in “Nudecomer”. I wanted to see if it was just a glitter spray over a clear gel. It is not! It is consistent glitter and pigment all the way threw! No, it isn’t as good as a high end glitter would be. But, it is a start…. and only $.99.

As before, the top is the old and the bottom is the new formula. That first shade is the glitter!

I am really impressed with the new formula!!

New palettes

Rosé in the Air $4.99

We are talking about the second palette in the top row.

Rosy and mauve shades are all the rage recently. Obviously Wet N Wild had to jump in on the action.

I really enjoy this Palette! It reminds me a ton of the ABH Modern Renaissance palette. But, it is only $4.99!!

If you have toyed with the idea of getting say the MR palette or the Violet Voss HG palette, but don’t want to shell out the cash for it, I would pick this palette up as soon as you see it!

Not a Basic Peach $4.99

We are now talking about they very first palette. The peach with a pop of blue!

This is the only palette that disappointed me. I love peach with blue, but it’s hard to find a Cruelty Free blue AT the drugstore. I was hoping this Palette would be here to save the day. However, the blue is really lacking in pigmentation. You can build it up and use a setting spray or something to Wet it and make it more vibrant. It is just strange that everything else is so pigmented, then we get this wimpy blue. *look to come *

Nude Awakening $4.99

Now we are talking about the first palette in the second row.

This Palette is cool toned with some pink and a maroon. This Palette is really pretty. Everything in it is constantly pigmented. A great neutral palette, with some essential mattes. If you are a beginner and want to pick up one of these to really get you started with eye shadow, this is the one I would go with. *look to come*

Hooked on Vinyl $2.99

The peach and teal mattes in this quad really caught my attention. For some reason this blues and greens with peach really make me feel some kind of way!

In person you can tell the darker shade is more teal. The mattes are very creamy and pigmented. And that gold. OMG the gold! Feels like a high end metallic when you swatch it. I can not want to use this quad on my eyes! *look to come*.

This collection doesn’t officially release in stores until January, but I was able to find the shadows at my local Walgreens! There is a ton of other products being release as well. Lipsticks, primers, cushion foundation, Wet N Wild is coming out with so much new stuff!

What do you think of the new Wet N Wild shadows? Comment below!

ELF Mad For Matte “Holy Smokes” Palette | Review and Look.

It is no secret that the OG ELF Mad for Matte palette is good, but what about the new addition to the collection?

This $10 palette contains an array of shades from white to black-really everything you need to make a basic Smokey eye.

There is even a Forrest green and a navy blue for different options for your Smokey eye!

The shades included are:

  • A white
  • A light grey
  • A light brown
  • A more warm Brown
  • A medium brown
  • A dark brown
  • A Forrest green
  • A navy blue
  • A deep grey
  • And of course black

The look:

  • I primed my eyes with the Wet N Wild Photo Focus eye Primer. I didn’t have one from ELF, but I wanted to use a drugstore one.
  • I set it with Wet N Wild “Brûlée”
  • I used the light brown as a transition.
  • Then I packed the Forrest Green shade all over my lid.
  • Then I used the warm shade to blend out that shade and to help it fade into my crease.
  • To deepen my crease and outer corner I used the black shade.
  • I then lined my eyes with my KVD Ink liner in “Trooper” and applied the BWC Mascara in “Black” which I am finally almost done with.

  • For my lower lash line I lined with a black ELF pencil.
  • Then I smudged it out with the light brown, then a little bit more with the warm shade.

Over all thoughts:

For $10 this palette is awesome. The shades are pigmented and very easy to blend. The packaging is of nice quality and you get a nicely sized mirror. My only complaint is that there isn’t a Cream shade in it. But, I have 100000 cream colored shadows, so that really isn’t that big of a deal.

You can pick it up for yourself, HERE! Make sure to join their point program, it is actually very nicely set up!

I hope you enjoyed this post! What is your favorite drugstore Smokey eye palette??

Thank you for reading💕💋
