Tetris x Ipsy Game On Palette | is it better than Block Party?

If you follow my blog, you would know I have started a subscription box product win or whomp series. This is part of that series.

I really wanted to see if the Game On palette was any better than the Block Party palette. If you read that post you would know that little palette would left me with much to be desired.

Let’s get to applying and swatching and see if Game On is an improvement, the same, or some how even worse!

The Swatches

  • Game changer: a matte light orange. Appears better on the eye than swatched.
  • Game Day: A metallic light pink.
  • Game Night: A metallic green based gold

  • Stack it up: A matte cream shade
  • Block Party: A metallic rose gold
  • Game Over: A matte Navy

Thoughts?

The palette is slightly better than its counter part. I enjoy the metallic shades. The mattes really aren’t anything special. I may end up depoting the metallics. The packaging itself is cute with a nice sized mirror, so they did good again on that aspect. It could be a little smaller though. The palettes are pretty large for just 6 shadows.

For me this is still a whomp. It is only a 6 pan palette. I want to enjoy all the shades, not just half.

Have you tried this palette? What would you like me to review next?

6 Drugstore Beauty Products I canโ€™t Live Without

Makeup can get expensive. But, you don’t always have to break the bank to find some amazing products.

I am going to share with y’all, my beautiful readers 6 of the drugstore products that I just cannot live with out!

Ulta Beauty Brow Tint $10 mo Buy it here!

I have talked about this brow tint in a recent empties. I haven’t had time to run to Ulta to grab a new one, my brows are not the same. This product is great for quick brows, but I also love to set my brows with it. It gives great hold and more tint. I do like my bold brows!

ELF Acne Fighting Foundation $6 Buy it here!

In the beginning I did not have high hopes for this product. All my initial opinions were wrong. The foundation is infused with salicylic acid and witch hazel. My skin has never been so clear! It has definitely made a huge difference in my skin. The coverage isn’t full, but it is just right for me. It doesn’t wear off all gross and patchy through out the day. I would almost go as far as to say that, at this moment, the ELF Acne Fighting Foundation is my favorite foundation.

Makeup Revolution Renaissance Flick Liquid Liner $9 Get it here!

I initially tried this liner because of Soph Does Nails on YouTube. It’s great. She’s right. It’s pigmented, dries down matte. The tip is felt and flexible, which makes it easy to work with. There is also something about the shape that makes it so easy to hold and control. I prefer this liner over my higher end ones.

ELF Perfect Finish HD Powder $6 Get it here!

This is my favorite setting powder in general. It makes my under eye area so smooth, and really helps to set the rest of my face. It also does not cake when you reapply it through out the day to control shine.

ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder Fiji Matte $4 Get it here!

I have gone through so many of these through out the year. The shades are perfect for my skin tone and really packs a punch.

Morphe Continuous Setting Spray $16 but the $3.50 off $15 ulta coupon does apply! Get it here!

This is another product that was in a recent empties. I love this setting spray. To me it works just like Urban Decay All Nighter, for like half the price!

Those are a few of my drugstore favorites! What are some of yours?

I want to apologize if all of the images do not upload. I am having some technical difficulties.

Ipsy x Tetris Block Party Palette | Sub Box Win or Whomp

I love Tetris. It is a nice way to relieve anxiety and relax after a long day. Of course, a Tetris themed makeup collaboration was super exciting to me. While I was excited, life got in the way and I had not been able to play with the palettes.

Well, I finally played around with Block Party, and I have some two cents to throw at y’all.

The packaging

The packing is made of a sturdy card board. The out side sports Tetris shapes in different shades of purple and pink. There is a magnetic closure.

Fun fact: purple is my favorite color! As well as my Mama Tams, and my Mama Kathy’s who recently passed away. Please expect a post discussing Lupus and how it has affected my family. I want to spread awareness, she would want me to.

Back to the point.

The inside is decorated with different colored hearts, the palette name and a nice mirror. The shade names are also included.

Over all, super cute packaging and it isn’t too bulky.

The Swatches

  • Skyline: A matte cool brown. I would say it is right in the middle of a basic transition and a defined shade. It did work for both of these purposes.
  • T-Spin: A Metallic silver. Very pretty swatched, but I had a lot of trouble working with it. Wet or dry. It just wanted to fall all over the place.
  • Top out: A royal blue metallic. This ended up being my favorite shade. A bit difficult to work with, but it looks beautiful on the eyes.

  • Back-to-back: A matte cream shade. I think this is a great staple shade for palettes to have. Great for setting primer, great for blending.
  • Line Clear: A Metallic hot pink. This shade works best with the fingers and is very pretty. The fallout is crazy though. Other metallic shadows I have do not do that.
  • High Score: A metallic Purple. This is the shade my eye draws to, however, I could not get it to appear on my eye as it does in the pan and the swatch. Disappointed.

The Look

The look I did was super simple.

  • I primed my eyes with concealer and set it with Back-to-back. I would continue to use this shade to blend out harsh edges.
  • I used a fluffy brush with Skyline to create a transition, I also used a more packed brush to define the crease using the same shade.
  • Using my finger I placed High Score on the outer part of my lid.
  • Using a different finger I placed Line Clear on the rest of my lid.

  • I placed t-spin on my inner corner.
  • For my lower lash line I applied Top Out, which really popped!

Over All Thoughts?

I have to say, for me, this is a whomp. The color story is beautiful and I love the nostalgia of Tetris, but I just had to much trouble working with this palette. The lattes are great, and the blue is a dream, but I have all these shades in other palettes, in formulas that work for me. I will be passing this palette along to a friend or family member. I am currently unable to find the price of the palette, but if my memory serves me right, I believe it was in the mid $20 range.

That being said. Just because it didn’t work for me, doesn’t mean it won’t for you. If it sparks your interest, people are selling theirs on eBay and Mercari and much lower price points. Just because someone else doesn’t like something doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give it a go if you are interested!

Have you tried this palette? What are your thoughts?

Jane Iredale Lip Drink Lip Balm “Flirt” $17

This lip balm is lemon scented, has a reef safe SPF, and is recommended by the Cancer foundation as an effective lip protectant.

Jane Iredale is a brand that I really enjoy, so I was happy to receive this item as our makeup product this month.

I love products like this for quick and easy makeup days, or days where I go with out. Personally, I would not pay $17 for a lip balm, but I am glad to have it! Makes me feel fancy.

The Seaweed Bath Co. Firming Detox Body Cream $4 deluxe sample size

I am still not positive as to what a firming Cream is for. However, it is rosemary and mint scented, which is a lovely combination. I am just going to use this as a body lotion and hope that I am not doing something wrong.

Moon Rivers Naturals Peppermint Lava Hand And Body Soap $5 deluxe sample size

The scent of this soap is beautiful. I really enjoy peppermint. Once I finish my current body wash and I am going to throw this sample into my rotation.

Laura B Beauty Nail Growth Serum $75

I have recently stopped getting acrylic nails. I cannot being to explain how badly I need a product to repair my nails. I am sure those of you who have had acrylics in the past can understand. I am hoping with such a steep price tag that I will actually see a difference in my nails

Over all thoughts?

Petit Vour Unboxing | August 2019

Hello everyone!

Tonight, we have an unboxing that I have not done in a while, the Petit Vour clean, vegan, and cruelty free beauty box!

After reading some other PV unboxings, I realized how much I missed this box. I just had to resubscribe!

What was in my first box in over a year?

Harvest Natural Beauty Lengthening Mascara $18

This mascara is meant to be ideal for sensitive eyes. It also claims to be smudge proof and water resistant. My mascara always smudges under my lower lash line, I am forever on the search for the perfect smudge proof mascara.

Honua Hawaiian Skincare Pa’kai Cleansing Cream $12

Made with Hawaiian salt, hibiscus, and seaweed. This cleansing cream is meant to cleanse, repair and renew for soft hydrated skin.

Those claims sound great to me, and I like the simple ingredients.

Derma E Essential Radiance Toner $2.50

This is an alcohol free, exfoliating toner with glycolic acid.

I really enjoy Derma E skincare. I have heard great things about the Radiance toner and I am excited to try it for myself.

Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Serum $15

This serum contains, willow bark, salicylic acid, and organic fruit acids.

My pores have been pretty congested lately, so I have been getting some break outs. I will be testing this product out ASAP!

Petit Histoire Envie Desoir $5

This last product in the box this month is a fragrance sample.

This is a 100% natural fragrance of “glistening violet and rose dancing in soft rain.”

The fragrance is very floral, yet fresh at the same time. I actually really enjoy it.

Overall thoughts?

I am very happy with my first box back. I will get use out of every item! I love being confident that all of the products are cruelty free, vegan, and clean beauty! The products are also samples of some pretty pricey items in each box. It makes it all the more fun to try!

Zion Health Beauty Balm $29.99

Our first product is an anti-aging sunscreen with SPF 30. This product is also meant to enhance and brighten your skin tone. This sunscreen is paraben, gluten, aluminum, and sulfate free. SPF is very important, so I am very happy with this product.

Phase Zero Makeup Coconut Liquid Eyeshadow “Lucky Penny” $22.50

I have started getting in to liquid/cream eyeshadow, which is really strange for me! Lucky Penny is a pretty shade, it would look great all over the lid.

Zabana Essentials Sea Salt Wavy Hair Shimmer Spray $15.95

This shimmer spray looks so cute and fun! I will definitely use it for trips this summer.

Root Pretty Pretty Balm “Campbell” $10

I have heard amazing things about the brand Root Pretty, and I have been dying to try some of their products. I suppose a tinted balm is a good place to start. The shade will give a beautiful bitten look to my lips!

Bonus Item: Beach Anklet By Kyut Box

I love ankle bracelets! Unfortunately, I have bad reactions to nickel, so hopefully I am able to wear this anklet. I love how simple and dainty it is.

Over all thoughts?

I love this months Box! Not one dud, and I can feel safe knowing that no animal testing is involved with the products. I can’t wait to see what the next box brings!

Menagerie Feral Palette | A look and review

It has been months since I have reviewed a palette!

What a better way to get back in the game than reviewing the cutest cruelty free palette ever?!

The Feral palette retails for $29. It is cruelty free, talc free and vegan!

Please note, I do have the newer version of this palette. I believe the first version had two different shades in the top row.

The Packaging

Of course the packaging is beautiful, but what else?

The palette is magnetic, I believe this is what makes the palette feel so weighted. The palette includes a mirror inside, which is great.

I would not travel with this palette, however. It did arrive to me with the shade “Wolfling” broken. No problem, it’s a pressed glitter, easy fix. But, it would be a mess if that happened during travel.

The shades

  • Harmonia- A matte robins egg blue
  • Wolfling- A rose gold pressed glitter
  • Canis Lupus- A very light matte brown. Warm undertones.
  • Alpha- A matte dark gray

  • Pack Leader- A hot pink pressed glitter
  • Allium- A matte purple
  • Mariposa-A matte orange
  • Night Eyes- A matte yellow

  • Wisteria- A matte pinky peach
  • Fenris- A matte green
  • Ivy- A darker matte green, almost a hunter green.
  • Huechera- A green pressed glitter.

The Look

I primed with the original Urban Decay Primed potion.

  • For my crease I started with Canis Lupus as my transition. I just used a big fluffy crease brush for this step.
  • Using a basic crease brush I placed Fenris all over my lid and blended it into my crease.
  • On my outer half of my lid I used the same brush as before and placed Ivy on that part of my lid and blended it up into my outer crease.
  • Of the inner half of my lid I placed Wolfling with a flat brush.

  • I started on my lower lash line with a pencil brush and the shade Ivy, getting it as close to my lash line as possible.
  • I then blended this out with Fenris.
  • I just took the first fluffy brush that I used and blended everything with the shade Canis Lupus.
  • For my inner corner I just popped in a random highlight, I can’t recall which one, but any light shade will work.

Over all thoughts?

I love this palette over all! The color story is beautiful and so fun. I want the packaging as a framed piece of art. Coty was even stunned with how pretty the art on the packaging is!

The formula for the matte shadows is probably one of the best, if not the best that I have ever tried. Each matte shade is pigmented and buttery. They are very easy to blend, and stay just a vibrant all day long.

Now, for the only think I dislike about this palette. The presses glitters.

I am not surprised by this.

I have yet to try any pressed glitter formula that I like. I also don’t use loose glitter. I guess glitter just isn’t my thing.

If I were to use up any of the matte shades in this palette, I would with out a doubt purchase the singles that Menagerie sells for $5 on their site.

If you have yet to try this palette, I highly recommend giving it a shot!

You can purchase it Here.

Have you tried this palette? What products from Menagerie do you love?
