Review: Too Faced x Nikkie Tutorials The Power of Makeup Palette

820h3

Hello all!

Sorry I have been MIA fora few days. Work and life in general has been extremely hectic. But, I am back at you tonight with something I have been asked a ton about. My review of the NEW Power of Makeup palette, but Too Faced and Nikkie Tutorials!

I have seen a couple mixed reviews on this palette. As usual with any hyped up makeup item, and holy crap has this palette been hyped up. First, I want to start out with what I expected from this, so it will be easier to know where I am coming from. I expected a very versatile palette, sense Nikkie does SO many different amazing looks. I expected the highlighter to be glowy as hell, because Nikkie is always glowy as hell. But, did I get what I expected?

The Packaging:

I have to give this to them, the packaging is beautiful. I really like the animal print, especially sense gold and black are incorporated, one of my favorite color combos. I also really like that the glitter, primer, and liner come in a little resealable bag with the same packaging. I have actually been using mine to keep coupon codes that I have gotten recently, so they are all in on place. The palette itself is very thin, so perfect for travel. My only real gripe with the packaging is that there isn’t any mirror included in the palette. I am someone who tends to use the mirrors in palettes when I do my makeup, so it is just an inconvenience.

Add on items (What’s in the bag..):

nt

The little bag had some pretty neat contents:

Mini Better Than Sex mascara (LE): This is pretty cool. With the kit you get a limited edition PURPLE Better Than Sex mascara. I like wearing colored mascara on my lower lash line, but never want to buy it because there is no way I would be able to use it up before it expires. I am glad it is a mini, maybe I will actually use it up!

Glitter in “Glitterally”: The story behind this name is Nikke couldn’t say glittery for a while, so it always came out as “glitterally”. Funny. It is just a silver and white glitter. It comes with a pretty good amount, but doesn’t have a shiftier so that sucks.

Mini Shadow Insurance eye primer: This is already a primer that I know I love, so I can never have too many samples of it.

Sketch Liner in “Black”: I was really hoping this was going to be great. It is very pigmented and easy to apply. You also get a full size of it! But, it takes quite awhile to dry, which is unfortunate because it makes me want to just get rid of it. I don’t have time to wait forever for my liner to dry.

The Face Products:

nt1

I am going start with my swatches and opinion on the face products, and save the shadows for last!

nt2

In this palette you get 2 blushes and a bronzer that already exist in the Too Faced line, and a highlight that technically also already exists in the Too Faced line as a shadow.

Blushes: I was ecstatic when I heard that this palette was going to include Nikkie’s favorite Love Flushed blushes. The coral “I will always love you” and the hot pink “justify my love”.  I really love the look that these shades give when mixed together. You will see what this looks like shortly!

Bronzer: The bronzer in this palette is Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer. It is matte and yes, still smells like chocolate. I already own this bronzer and really enjoy using it for contouring and warming up my face.

Highlighter: Nikkie apparently loves using the shade “Champagne Truffle” from the original chocolate bar palette to highlight. This resulted in larger sized being popped into the palette. I personally think the original shadow has more pigment and glow to it than this new one.

I enjoy these face products over all. The blushes are great and I already love the bronzer. I was pretty let down by the highlighter, it is pretty toned down for what many of us have come to expect from Nikkie.

The Eyes:

nt1

Eye shadow is my favorite makeup product, so this is the most for me.

nt3

I am going to discuss them in order, which is also how I have them swatched.

“Ivy”- Stark matte white, perfect for the inner corner and brow bone on my fair skin.

“Sugar Coated”- Light pink shimmer. This is another shade great to pop in the inner corner of  the eye.

“Frosted Yum”- Silver shimmer shade. The glitter in it is pretty chunky, so it has a lot of fall out. It would be a nice shade for a smokey eye.

“Irresistible”- Golden shimmer shade. This shade is beautiful, but has a tremendous amount of fall out.

“Pain Killer”- Matte light brown. Nikkie says she chose this shade because it is hard to find a transition shade those with fair skin. I do love this shade.

“Makeup and Chill”- Matte dark brown. Really nice as a crease and outer “V” definer, it is also really nice on the lower lash line.

“Mystic Hour”-Shimmery deep teal. This shade is super pigmented, but as with the other shimmery shades, it has a lot of fallout.

“Wham Bam”– Shimmery purple. The shade is so pretty, but goodness I want one shimmery shade in this palette that doesn’t have fall out!

“Wanted”- Matte black. Nice black, not the best I have used. It is also somewhat patchy.

I am not going to lie, I am disappointed.I paid $56, I want shadows without a ton of fallout and a highlighter that shows up!

The Look:

nt4

  • Too Faced Hangover RX primer
  • Too Faced Born This Way foundation and concealer.
  • NYX HD Powder (Loose) in “Translucent”
  • ELF “Taupe” brow pencil and Glossier Boy brow in “Blond”.
  • I mixed both the blushes from the palette, contoured and bronzed with the bronzer, and tried to highlight with the highlight.

nt5

  • I set my lid and highlighted my brow bone and inner corner with “Ivy”.
  • Went into my crease with “Pain Killer”, I also put it on the outer third of my eye.
  • I went back in the the crease with “Makeup and Chill”, I also deepened up the outer third portion of my eye with it. This happens to also me the shade I used on my lower lash line.
  • All over my lid I use “Irresistible”.
  • I used the Sketch liner to do my wing and the Pacifica Dream Big mascara.

Quite honestly, I would skip this palette. If you want get some Too Faced shadows, I recommend any of the chocolate bar palettes.I am pretty disappointed in it over all. I expected much more.

I hope you liked this quick review! What do you think of the kit?

August 2016 Boxycharm UN-Boxing!

 820bc

Here’s another sub box for y’all to peak into. Boxycharm is $21 (free us shipping). It usually has 4-5 most full-sized, sometimes deluxe sample sized products. This month the theme of the box is”express yourself”.

820bc1

The first product is The Coastal Scents Blush+Bronzer mini palette, with the bonus item; an angled blush brush.

It is supposed to be worth a total of $19.95. Upon first impression, I am not too over the moon with the palette. It doesn’t swatch all that great, but it still may apply beautifully on the face. I guess we will all find out in up coming posts. The brush is small, but very soft. I am going to try to get use out of it.

820bc2

Next, we’ve got the Aloette Aloepure Time Repair Serum. A $48 value! Skin care is expensive, but IF it is good it can be worth it.

This serum is supposed to be good for all skin types, smooth away dead skin cells, protect against free radicals, and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Those are some bold claims, but I am willing to try anything that will smooth and protect my skin. If it is cruelty free that is, LIKE THIS SERUM! It is also a farm to jar certified item, so it is going to be more natural than other skin care. I really want to try more green skin care and makeup, even more green than this.

820bc3

The next item is this really pretty velvet matte liquid lipstick from Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics. It is a $9 value.

From what I am seeing they are cruelty free AND vegan, though I am personally trying to focus on CF. But, after checking Logical Harmony’s Brand list I didn’t see it. I actually emailed Logical Harmony to see if anything was know. Hopefully I get an answer, if not, I understand they are busy!

It is a pretty shade though, named “phantom”, which is right up my alley. I swatched it over my tattoo so the opacity, with one dip into the product could be shown. Not bad for $9!

820bc4

This next product is neat, but also aggravated me some. Amplimascara by Make-up Eraser, is a $23 product, that seems like it is supposed to be magic. It is supposed to last all day and night, not flake, smudge, clump, or cause irritation. It also contains no parabens.

The package says that it will gift you lift, volume, curl, and be super black. Sounds nice right? Well, apparently it is part of a kit. Will it even work on its own if it is just a serum?! Why not just sent the fibers with it, it is literally on sale right now, $28 for the kit. Just $5 more!

A little insert in the box says that the best way to remove it is with a damp Make-up Eraser….Really? Is the best way to remove a makeup product made by a brand who MADE a makeup remover cloth, with said cloth? Who would have guessed. I will be reviewing this, might even buy the fibers to see how it all works.

820bc5

The last item in the box is this  Shadow STX by Beauty for Real. It is a $19 value.

This shadow is cream to powder, CF, supposedly long wearing, and infused with meadowfoam seed oil (whatever that is) to moisturize.

This shade is amazing. It is going to look beautiful on the eye. As you can see in the swatch, this dude is pigmented! It was also pretty hard to remove from my arm with a makeup wipe. Which can be a good or bad thing, depending on who you are.

That is it for my Boxy Charm!

Ulta Haul!

820h

I know what you’re thinking, “Manda you just did a nice sized haul, what are you doing? Stop wasting money!”

Well, I have an acceptable reason for the beauty junkie community. I was waiting for midnight to hit the other day so I could order the Nikkie Tutorials and Too Faced colab and I decided, I would reward myself for my promotion at work. There fore, this haul was born.

820h1

I am going to start with the Soap and Glory items.

I really enjoy the SHHHH! Flake Away Body Polsih and I am almost our off my current exfoliator, so I picked this tub up. Soap and Glory had a little free gift with a $25 purchase. SO, I decided to get the Soaper Woman set which is on sale on Ulta’s site!  I then qualified for the free gift of a little Righteous Butter, I love this stuff and can never have enough.

HERE, is the brand section link on Ulta’s site for Soap and Glory.

820h2

I wanted to pick up some Makeup Revolution items, sense I love my one highlighter so much.

I picked up 2 more highlighters, “Peach Lights” and “Radiant lights”.  They are both very pretty! I am sorry there are no swatches in this haul, but I have specific posts I want to do for each item. After reading other blogs, I have came to notice that reviewing individual products frequently, seems to be a fruitful tactic to bring in more readers.

Anyway…

I had to get the New-Trals vs. Neutrals palette. It is just so pretty and I am really loving peach looks lately.

I wanted to try another palette, but could not decide! So, I picked the one with the best name. Unicorns Unite Salvation palette. I am really thrilled with it, so kudos to me for making a decision in a terrible way.

HERE, is the Makeup Revolution brand page on Ulta’s site.

820h3

Y’all, look at it! I know you are just seeing the packaging, but she is PERFECT. You get a palette with shadows, blushes, a highlight and a bronzer. You get a limited edition purple shade of the Better Than Sex Mascara, a FULL-SIZED black liner, a deluxe sample of shadow insurance, and a glitter! All for $56. But, is it worth it? You bet your buns I have a review with swatchs, looks, and all coming your way.

It is sold out online at Ulta currently, but it will be in stores Sept. 4th!

I hope you enjoyed this small haul. Don’t forget to like and follow and tell your friends! What products have you recently picked up? What products are you dying to see reviewed? Let’s talk in the comments!

August 2016 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box Un- Boxing.

vca

Hello fellow beauty junkies.

Today I bring you my August 2016 Vegan Cuts beauty box unboxing. If you are unaware of what Vegan Cuts is, you are really missing out. It is a website where you can buy all sorts of natural, CF, and vegan stuff! They have 3 different sub boxes. A snack one, which I don’t get because I am a picky eater and know what I like. I really like kale chips to snack on, FYI. A beauty box; which is what this post is about, and a makeup box (which is annual) that I have also reviewed.

In this box you get 4-7 products each month and it is only $18.75!! Sign up here, P.S. Not an affiliate link.

In this months box, I got a few things I have been wanting to try, because I have read rave reviews from other CF bloggers. It is pretty exciting, let’s jump in!

Yes to Carrots (tomatoes) detoxifying charcoal facial wipes $5.99 value:

In one of Rhian HY’s recent videos she talks about these puppies. Says they are, “The most goth face wipe I have ever seen.” Makes me giggle. This spiked my interest in them, so I was very excited to see them in my box!

Derma E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub $2 Value:

I love little travel scrubs, because I do travel quite often…at least to my parents house. I have heard good things about this brand, glad I get to try a sample. Apparently it has marine algae in it, neat.

You can also get a personalized vegan skin care routine at www.dermae.com/dermaevaluation

If you use the code VEGAN16 at check out you can get 20% off!!

Green and Gorgeous Organics Lavender and Bergamot Dry Shampoo $7.99 value:

I have yet to try a natural dry shampoo, I am interested to see how well it works. I am very elated that it is scented with my favorite scent combination!

Adorn Cosmetics Mineral Loose Illuminiser Sample $5 Value:

vca1

Inside a small sample pot, like the ones some Sephoras use to put foundation samples in, was a lose powder. When spread out the powder gives off a really pretty peachy glow. I am a bit put off by the packaging, it can get messy. BUT, I want to make a point to use it, it is beautiful and it is an Australian brand, which I think is kind of neat. I wouldn’t pay $5 for the small amount of product though.

If you use the code VEGANCUTS during checkout you will receive $10 off your purchase on their site.

Deco Miami Polish in “Petite Palm” $12.50 value:

vca2

Let me start of by saying, is the packaging not perfect!? Even the box is too cute to throw away! This is an 8 -free polish or top coat. The box says 2 coats should do the trick. I can’t wait to test it out. Really glad that I got the one in my favorite color. It even matches my bed sheets, which I decided to use as the back ground until I can decide on a more permanent flat lay. Sorry that it isn’t super crisp.

Pacifica Color Quench Lip tint in “Sugared Fig” $7 value:

vca3

I let out an embarrassing squeal when I saw this product in my box. Tashina from Logical Harmony recently posted a video of her 5 favorite vegan and CF lip balms. This was one of them! I was going to buy it on my own over the weekend while I was at Target, now I don’t have too. Even though I will probably buy more. The shade is very perfect for my natural lip color, it adds a tint but just enough. It also smells delicious. It makes me think of candy stores!

What do you think of this box? I am in love! What are your favorite CF and/or Vegan LIP PRODUCTS? Let’s discuss in the comments!
